Privacy Policy
Dirt Road Software builds websites, online stores and store software for independent feed and farm stores. This policy explains what information we handle when you visit this site, talk with Dusty, or use our services, why we handle it, and the choices you have. We never sell or rent your information.
1. Who we are
Dirt Road Software is a brand of JEZT Digital, LLC ("we", "us"). JEZT Digital owns and runs it: the same company builds the software, hosts the websites, issues the software licenses and handles billing. When this policy says "we", it means JEZT Digital, LLC doing business as Dirt Road Software.
This policy covers dirtroadsoftware.com, Roadside (the control panel stores use at roadside.dirtroadsoftware.com) and the websites, online stores and store software we provide. JEZT Digital's own privacy policy covers its other brands and services.
2. Our two roles
- For our own business (this website, Dusty, store owners' accounts, billing and support), we decide how information is used, as described here.
- For a store's own records (for example the customers, house accounts and orders on a store's website or in Roadside), the store decides what is collected and why. We handle that information on the store's behalf and only to provide our services to the store. If your question is about a store that uses our services, please ask that store first. We will help them answer it.
3. What we collect
| What | Examples | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Dusty chat | The messages you type, and your name, email or phone if you choose to leave them | To answer your questions and follow up if you ask us to |
| Inquiries and emails | Name, store name, email, phone, what you want help with, your message | To reply to you and talk about your store |
| Store account details | Business name, contacts, billing address, the websites, plans and software your store uses | To provide and support our services and keep our records |
| Roadside sign-in | Name, email, role, password (stored only as a one-way hash), sign-in history | To keep store accounts secure and show each person only what they are allowed to see |
| Billing records | Invoices, payments, refunds, card brand and last four digits | To bill the store, send receipts and keep accounting records. Full card numbers go only to the payment processor |
| License check-ins | License key, the website address the software runs on, a store identifier and a few usage numbers | To confirm each store's license and switch on the features the store pays for |
| Store content and records | Products, prices, photos, hours, a store's customers, house accounts and orders | To run the store's website and software for the store (see section 2) |
| Store website visits | The pages viewed, how long they stayed open, the site or search that linked to them, the device type and screen width, and a visitor code that changes every day | To show each store how its website is doing. No names, addresses or IP addresses are kept with the visits |
| Technical information | IP address, browser type, pages requested, error logs | Security, troubleshooting, and stopping spam and abuse |
4. Cookies and similar tools
dirtroadsoftware.com does not use advertising or cross-site tracking and does not set its own cookies. If you pause page motion on the Baker Feed example pages, your browser remembers that choice until you close the tab. When you use Dusty, Cloudflare runs a spam check in your browser. Roadside uses only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in. The store websites we run count their visits with one small cookie that holds only the date of your last visit, so the store can tell first visits from return visits; it lasts about 13 months and is never used for advertising. A browser set to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control isn't counted. A store can also add its own tools, such as Google Analytics, which its own privacy policy covers.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with companies that help us run our services, under terms that require them to protect it, or when the law requires it. These include:
- Hosting: Hostinger hosts this website, Roadside, our stores' websites and their databases.
- Dusty: Dusty runs on SputnikFX's chat service, which uses Cloudflare to run the chat and check for spam and an AI model to write replies. What you type in the chat is sent to those services so Dusty can answer. Please do not type passwords, card numbers or other private account details into the chat.
- Payments to us: Stripe processes card payments for our invoices and stores saved payment methods.
- Sign-in with Google or Microsoft: if you choose it, Google or Microsoft confirms who you are through JEZT Digital's console (console.jeztdigital.com), which then signs you in to Roadside.
- AI writing tools: when a store uses an AI feature, such as writing product descriptions, the product information needed for that request is sent to the AI provider set up for the store (OpenAI or Anthropic).
- Services a store turns on: for example the store's own card processor for online orders, OpenStreetMap to measure how far a delivery address is from the store, Google Business Profile, Facebook, Google Calendar or email marketing. Those companies receive what is needed for the feature the store uses.
We do not use store or customer information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers.
6. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), encryption for keys and other secrets we store, strong password hashing, role-based permissions, rate limits and activity logs. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell the people affected as the law requires.
7. How long we keep it
- Chats, inquiries and emails: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of our conversation.
- Store account and billing records: while the store is a client, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Records we hold for a store: while that store uses our services. When a store leaves, we make its data available for export and then delete it from our active systems. Backups expire on their normal schedule.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to send you a copy. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you further rights. Email support@dirtroadsoftware.com and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. If your information is in a store's records, we will pass your request to that store and help them answer it.
9. Children
Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell the stores we work with by email.
